Assistant Project Manager – Multifamily Construction
Our Client is a well-established construction firm specializing in the development of multifamily apartment complexes. They are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their Indianapolis office and support the successful delivery of multifamily projects.
Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the Project Manager to assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of multifamily construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with multifamily experience who is looking to grow their project management skills in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager with planning, budgeting, scheduling, and day-to-day coordination of multifamily apartment projects.
Support communication and coordination with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
Help develop and track project budgets, costs, and change orders.
Assist in preparing and updating project schedules; monitor progress and flag potential issues.
Review, process, and track RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
Participate in project meetings and help maintain clear communication among stakeholders.
Support pre-construction activities, including bid solicitation and subcontractor coordination.
Help ensure compliance with contract documents, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Assist with project closeout tasks, including punch lists, final documentation, and owner turnover.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment and take on increasing responsibility as experience grows.
Qualifications
Experience as an Assistant Project Manager or in a similar support role on multifamily residential construction projects (multifamily experience is required).
Working knowledge of construction contracts, budgeting, scheduling, and project delivery methods.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Relevant industry certifications a plus.
